The Red Sea is a dynamic shipping lane connecting Europe and Asia. The Suez Canal to the North and Gulf of Aden to the South mean it is an essential trade route. During 2010 we have seen piracy spread into the lower Red Sea, where Coalition Naval forces have neither any jurisdiction nor the vessels suitable to apprehend pirates in this shallow sea area.
The recent addition of a stationary vessel, permanently anchored in the Red Sea allows us to offer Armed Security Teams in the GoA, through the Bab el Mandeb straits and lower Red Sea into the relative safety of the upper Red Sea for disembarkation.
